Is it bad to stay up all night?

My sister has friends in Australia and America and instead of waking up early to talk to them, she decides to stay up chatting to them all night on the internet and sleep during the day. Not only does it annoy me that she’d prefer to talk to friends who she’s only known for a year or two than come out during the day with me (it’s summer holidays) but I wondered if there are any health risks associated? Like insomnia or something, so that I can bug her about it…

It’s not bad per se. Plenty of night shift workers do just that. But your sister should make sure that she has a regular sleep cycle, no matter what time she actually does to sleep. She should get at least 8 hours, and should take a multivitamin if she can’t get enough sunlight.
